Antes de escrever sobre outro disco, filme ou afins, gostaria que vocês dessem uma lida na letra abaixo. Wither faz parte do novo disco do Dream Theater Black Clouds and Silver Linings. De autoria de John Petrucci, a letra é sobre o “writer’s block” (tradução ao pé da letra “bloqueio de escritor”), que é a incapacidade de produzir novas coisas, travamento esse relacionado principalmente a fatores psicológicos. Enfim, leiam a letra e ouçam a música (ao fim do post). Na minha modesta opinião é uma das músicas mais bonitas que o DT já compôs até hoje; uma melodia melancólica que chega a ser bela; o uso de acordes graves e, em sua maioria, menores, o que deixa a música com um clima bem condizente com sua temática, além de uma letra extremamente bem escrita e um solo explosivo e cheio de feeling no finzinho da música – ambas as coisas marcas registradas do JP. Vale prestar atenção na progressão melódica que é usada sobretudo no refrão. Ah, aos guitarristas de plantão: a guitarra está afinada em Bb.
